Foxes Safari Camp

Foxes Safari Camp is one the small and personalized camps in Mikumi. It is set up on a rocky kopje on the Mkata flood plain, which presides over the best game viewing area of the park, the Mwanamboga Waterhole.

Not only is Mikumi National Park a great place for getting your eye in on game drives but it is also a fantastically colorful place. The open grasslands stretching out before you change through the spectrum of orange and yellows throughout the day. There are high concentrations of game with large herds of Nyasa Blue Wildebeest, buffalo, impala, zebra and giraffe. Where there are large herds, there are always plenty of predators waiting for a meal.

Foxes Safari Camp has eight custom designed tents raised on wooden platforms sited around the rock kopje overlooking the floodplain. The exclusive camping African style, combines creature comforts with the real bush experience; ideal for those wishing to be in the thick of it immersed amongst the wildlife. All tents come with mosquito nets, ensuite bathroom facilities and a private verandah built on a slope with panoramic view of the plains and hillsides.

At Foxes Safari Camp you can also find a culinary and Dining Experience, meal arrangements include Choice of full English or Continental breakfast; Lunch is a cold buffet guest close the day with a three-course dinner with vegetarian option together with tea and coffee facilities.

This luxury tented camp in Mikumi National Park is operated by the Fox family and brings together there 40 years of experience in the Tanzanian tourism industry. The camp is attractively set on a granite outcrop overlooking the Mwanambogo waterhole and Mkapa floodplain in a good wildlife-viewing area in Mikumi’s far north.

The Safari Camp is the most intimate lodge in Mikumi, with only 8 large, thatched custom-built tents. The tents all have two double beds and are ensuite. Each tent is hidden amongst the kopjes (granite boulders) and the main dining boma and bar area is on the kopje-top.

We feel this is the only camp in the park which offers a true bush experience. Being 14 km from the main road traffic noise is not a problem like at some of the other camps in Mikumi and game viewing is of a high standard.
